Non-governmental organizations demand immediate probe into the death of Vazagashvili
The non-governmental organizations - International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy (ISFED), Transparency International - Georgia, Article 42 of the Constitution and the Civil Development Agency (CIDA) express our deepest condolences over the death of Iuri Vazagashvili.
Iuri Vazagashvili was found dead today on January 20, on his son’s grave. According to media reports, he died from explosion.
Over the years Iuri Vazagashvili demanded investigation of the death of his son, Zurab Vasagashvili during a special operation in 2006.
Non-governmental organizations demanded immediate and objective investigation of the death of Iuri Vazagashvili by the prosecutions service.
We believe that in light of high public interest, law enforcement authorities must also update public on the status of the investigation into Zurab Vazagashvili’s death.
We remain hopeful that deaths of Iuri Vazagashvili and Zurab Vazagashvili will be investigated in a timely and effective manner.
