ENEMO begins international monitoring mission in Ukraine
Today on October 15, the European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations (ENEMO) announced the launch of its international mission for monitoring local self-government elections in Ukraine.
During a press conference held today in Kiev, representatives of ENEMO Executive Board announced that the Network will implement a large-scale monitoring of elections in Ukraine by deploying 50 long-term and 270 short-term observers.
Local self-government elections in Ukraine are scheduled to be held on October 25, 2015.
ISFED Executive Director Nino Lomjaria assumed responsibilities of ENEMO General Director in February 2015. Since then ISFED has been acting as ENEMO general secretariat and working on institutional development of the Network.
ISFED started preparing for the mission to monitor the Ukrainian elections a few months ago by fundraising and is now providing financial and administrative support for the mission.
ISFED will deploy over 20 observers within ENEMO mission for monitoring the Ukrainian elections, including 6 long-term observers who will carry out pre-election (campaigning), Voting Day and post-election monitoring.
European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations brings together 21 organizations from 17 countries. ENEMO mission abides by European standards of monitoring to ensure democratic and fair elections.
