Opening and Setup of Polling Stations

The International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy (ISFED) is monitoring the June 29, 2014 repeated local self-government elections in all 9 districts.  The ISFED’s observation mission consists of 14 accredited and trained observers who have been deployed to 14 precincts, whereas 9 observers have been deployed to district commissions. There are also 4 mobile teams throughout the electoral districts. 
As of now, the ISFED presents information about opening the polling stations and the starting the process of voting.

Key Findings

Based on the information provided by ISFED’s observers, all precincts opened on time and the opening and setting up process of all precincts was conducted without violations.  So far voting process is administered in a calm and organized manner. Besides the ISFED’s observers there are representatives of other local non-governmental organizations and different parties present at the polling stations. 

Violations

As of now, the ISFED observers have reported one case of violation: Presence of unauthorized person in Kobuleti Precinct #34. A representative of United National Movement registered in District Election Commission was present at the precinct. After appropriate measures taken by Precinct Election Commission members the UNM representative left the precinct. 
Together with partner organizations ISFED allows you to monitor the process of elections online by means of elections web portal – www.electionsportal.ge where election violations reported by the non-governmental organizations are immediately pinpointed to a map. Further, any citizen can send information about electoral violations by sending a free SMS to the number 90039.

ISFED would like to remind voters to have one of the documents listed below with them in order to be able to participate in the elections: 
 ID card of a citizens of Georgia
 Passport of a citizen of Georgia (the so-called international passport)
 Certificate of an IDP (together with an ID card)
ISFED calls upon all citizens of Georgia who are eligible to vote to participate in the elections and to freely exercise their right to vote in favor of a candidate of their choice.
