The Anti-Corruption Bureau requests information about beneficiaries of ISFED

On June 23, 2025, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) presented a court order to the International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy (ISFED) granting the ACB's motion, which demands virtually all information held by the organization from January 1, 2024, to June 10, 2025, including legally protected personal data of the organization's beneficiaries and partners. Last week, other civil society organizations received similar letters, indicating that the Georgian Dream party and the state agencies under its complete control continue to use the unconstitutional and undemocratic laws recently adopted against civil society.

The ACB's motion does not meet even the minimum standards of legal justification. While it requests information related to the organization's activities based on the laws "On Political Associations of Citizens," "On Grants," and "On the Fight Against Corruption," it fails to adequately explain the necessity for obtaining this information. The data demanded from the organization under the court order, relating to thousands of beneficiaries as well as information obtained within the framework of legal advocacy, constitutes professional confidentiality, the non-disclosure of which is protected under Georgian legislation.

ISFED will utilize all available legal mechanisms to defend the interests of the organization and its beneficiaries.
