Postponed Eastern Partnership (EaP) Summit - Evalua-tion of Georgia’s Expectations and Implications
The Sixth Eastern Partnership (EaP) Summit was scheduled for June 18, 2020 in Brussels, however due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the physical summit will be held in March 2020. Instead, on June 18, 2020, representatives of EaP countries, EU institutions and Member States had a meeting via videoconfer-ence. Postponement of the summit till 2021 may serve as an opportunity for Georgia to work more until next year, in order for the EU policy toward the EaP countries and especially toward the associated countries to move to a new stage of relationship. However, at this stage, the Eastern Partnership leaders’ videoconference leads us to believe that at the 2021 summit the partner coun-tries will only be offered to deepen sectoral integration with the EU.
